Wonder Woman is a 'Gateway Drug'

Gal Gadot
Just a few days ago, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, every DC fan got a bunch of new images from "Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice" and as part of their ongoing exclusive the magazine has been speaking to director Zack Snyder.

In the extensive interview amongst other things Snyder actually hinted that Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman wouldn’t just be a cameo and that her role would be crucial in setting the two heroes straight and could be the factor that helped the decision in setting up the Justice League of America (JLA).

"She plays a super-important part. In a lot of ways, she's the gateway drug to
the rest of the
Justice League."

Considering that everyone already knows that Dawn of Justice is the lead-in to the long awaited Justice League movie – and other solo DC superhero flicks – then this little piece of information shouldn't really come as much of a surprise. Still it’s nice to hear it from Snyder anyway.

The "gateway drug" comment seems to suggest what a lot of rumors have suggested that Wonder Woman is what brings the two heroes – and eventually the JLA – together.

The director also spoke about the future of the Man of Steel and during the interview segment.

"I was surprised because that's the thesis of Superman for me, that you can't just have superheroes knock around and have there be no consequences ... There are other superhero movies where they joke about how basically no one’s getting hurt. That's not us. What is that message? That's it's okay that there's this massive destruction with zero consequence for anyone?"

Snyder continued,"I remember talking about 'What's the next villain? 'We can't do another alien invasion.' Metallo, I think, was going to be the main bad guy of this movie ... Brainiac was definitely down the road."
