For those who are eager to listen to what President Benigno Aquino III will be reporting when he delivers his State of the Nation Address (SONA), you can view it via livestreaming here: YouTube Channel and Office of the President.
Radio Television MalacaƱang, the presidential documentary arm, is offering the service to accommodate the growing demand of many Filipinos who are still at work and abroad to hear the agenda for the next couple of months during the opening of a joint session of Congress.
Visitors to the RTVM YouTube channel will also see a clock counting down the time until the event.
As expected, several groups will hold several protest actions as they try to get near the Batasan Complex. Malacanang, however, maintained on Sunday (21 July 2013) that the decision not to allow protesters to hold anti-SONA rallies near the House of Representatives was solely due to the Quezon City government as it was a local issue that did not include the Executive Branch of government.
In a press briefing aired over government-run radio station dzRB Radyo ng Bayan, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda stressed that President Benigno S. Aquino III and members of his Cabinet will be going to the House of Representatives as guests of Congress.
This (not to allow rallies) is a local issue —na ang nag-desisyon ay ang Quezon City government," Lacierda said.
He pointed out that it was the task of the local government which, in this case is the Quezon City government, to ensure the safety and security of all attendees to the State of the Nation address, President Aquino’s fourth.
