With the deafening noise that won’t disappear for several months at least, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) seeks to put a temporary plug the hole through a website that features how the pork barrel fund was used.
A website fully dedicated to the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) allows the public to post their comments, photos and videos to help identify if a project or program really exists. The online database will also provide information on the fund releases of legislators each year.
Through the website, the public will be able to find out how exactly did a legislator spend his or her allocation; who, specifically, benefited from it, where and when it was released, and other guidelines required by the DBM.
On the landing page, visitors are first introduced to the PDAF, which the DBM defined as "a lump-sum appropriation in the annual General Appropriations Act to fund the priority development programs and projects of the government."
It said that the online PDAF database was created to allow citizens to keep track of legislators' fund releases for each fiscal year, including how it was spent, who benefited from it, and when and where it was released.
"We empower the people by providing them information to hold legislators accountable," the DBM said on the website.
After the introductory message, a step-by-step instruction on how to navigate the website is shown to the visitors.
