Fox Studios has been producing movies based on movie superhero characters and they were in some cases successful with it. However, not everything that is good for Fox is right.
For example, what it the world possess Fox to change the identity of one of the most interesting original character of Marvel universe – Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch of "The Fantastic Four". The move caused unnecessary distress among comic purist and super hero followers .
The grumblings actually started after fans learned that the producer of the new "Fantastic Four" movie tried to stir up a controversy by casting a black man Michael B. Jordan as the flying ball of fire. The reason for the race choice is not clear. Maybe it was just a penchant to try and advocate for more diversity of the industry or there is something screwy in the functioning of an imagination that can stretch totally off the scale and ignore the original material.
While those silent protest are filtering slowly in the consciousness of the most vocal netizens, rumors have speculated that the first backlash will not actually be coming from fans themselves. Marvel Comics, the publisher of the "The Fantastic Four" series and comic variants has reportedly decided to cancel both its "Fantastic Four" and "Ultimate Fantastic Four" because they were “pissed” off with Fox Studios.
The rumor was considered insane and totally implausible by comic fans and Fantastic Four aficionado, but the good news is that the cancellation is only temporary. Both comic book series will be taken off the shelf only during the time that Fox is promoting the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.
Bleeding Cool originated the rumor and Comic Book Resources said they had confirmation that the its "Fantastic Four" and "Ultimate Fantastic Four" comics would be taking a hiatus. So that much appears true. As for Bleeding Cool's assertion that this move was made in order to deny Fox's upcoming FF movie comic support, they published a note, supposedly to sketch card artists, that they could no longer do Fantastic Four characters or their main cast, including Doctor Doom, Galactus, and more. To be fair, the note looks somewhat less than official, but if true it does indicate a company-wide ban on the Fantastic Four.
If we assume that the latest rumoured action by Marvel Comics is true and combine this with the fans’ enduring revolt for what many still view as questionable casting choices, Fox will be absolutely decimated. Even the tremendous performance of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" will not save them from more backlash.
Hopefully, the latest protest from various comic-based institutions will gather more storms to prevent Fox from continually "blackwashing" and changing the biological and social history of our comic hero characters.
