Superhero Movie Line-up from 2015 to 2020

Movie Superheroes
For six straight years, 2015-2020, movie fans or shall we say superhero movie fans will be treated to an intense line up that will probably make the movie industry reach new heights.

At present, the Marvel and Disney team-up is killing it at the box office and other studios are trying their damnedest to break off a chunk of that profitable hold. So when Marvel announced they've sketched out their movie universe through 2020 — and then doubled-down by locking in dates — other outfits scrambled their personnel for a massive strategic strike.

Fox and Sony both announced potential line-ups for their properties, throwing their proverbial hats into the Thunderdome ring. After trying stay out of the fray, Warner Bros. finally came out swinging with their DC franchises also outlined through 2020.

This is out of control. It's as if consumers of comic book adaptations are the hottest new craze and these movie studios will do anything to get us. Like a mob of Black Friday shoppers outside Wal-Mart at 11:59 P.M., they are jockeying for the best position from which to sprint for our dollars. And to top it off Disney is double-dipping, wading into the fray with "Star Wars" and they are not afraid to wade into the deepest part of the ocean to get the job done.

Just how insane will the next few years really be? Seeing disparate lists of upcoming unknown entities makes it hard to grasp the enormity. So here's a list from Donna Dickens of HitFix:

2015
  • May 1 – "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (Marvel)
  • June 19 – "Fantastic Four" (Fox)
  • June 17 – "Ant-Man" (Marvel)
  • Dec. 18 – "Star Wars: Episode VII" (Lucasfilm)

As everyone can see, it is an incredible line-up, but also with several uncertainties that keep the interest at fever-pitch high. Will the audience get enough? It's too early to tell, but the production studios should have enough resources by that time to develop new ways to perk up interest.

The only thing certain at this time is that Fox's new version of "Fantastic Four" will definitely disappoint everyone. I'm not sure why they are even bothering projecting a sequel in 2017, but most probably that's their way of making sure that they retain their right on the franchise instead of turning it over to Marvel, which could have given it a better production.
