Yahoo News! was originally known as an article aggregator. Now, they also provide original content written by staff journalists. Yahoo News! breaks news down to the following categories: US, World, Politics, Originals, and Health
Most of their followers, however, go to the site only for the comments. They are not there because of the poorly written articles that Yahoo! favorably received from left-wing sources such as CNN, MSNBC, HUFFPOST and DAILY BEAST. They go for the jugular, the comments section.
Many of their articles are false, misleading and reeked of Socialist propaganda and misinformation. Visitors rarely read the whole narrative, but they go to the comments section to clear up and correct the misconceptions. A few hours ago, Yahoo! has disabled this option.
Yahoo media claims that they temporarily took down comments for safety reasons. They gave no evidence of safety problems.
Posters who wanted to post now had to contend instead with this message: "Our goal is to create a safe and engaging place for users to connect over interests and passions. In order to improve our community experience, we are temporarily suspending article commenting."
Many are not surprised by this move from Yahoo! After getting numerous flak for their intention to promote irrational views instead of unbiased reporting of facts on politics and economics, the comments section has been flooded by calls to correct the writing and focus more on fair editing.
Whether it's distorting facts or omitting perspective by altering facts on almost all articles that it posted, Yahoo! was getting called out. It has become too obvious that most posters are getting tired of it and they are not shy on expressing their exasperation in the comments section.
Yahoo’s original content found on the Politics page leans excessively to the left in wording and story selection, such as this: Trump just a blowhard on windmills, lawmakers say of 'idiotic' comments. How did this became a headline?
The flood of posters in the comments section citing and highlighting the favorable stance of Yahoo! towards the left compared to the right spectrum of politics, forced the aggregator to neuter the comments and review their policies on posting.
