"Fake Heiress" is Back in Social Media

Sorokin
Sorokin — aka Anna Delvey — is now back in social media, specifically Instagram. She temporarily lost access to it as part of the condition during her immigration case.

Sorokin was first arrested for posing as a German heiress and scamming socialites, banks and hotels out of money. At the time of her arrest in 2017, it was estimated that she had stolen US$ 275,000. She had been labeled the "fake heiress" as her story made headlines, but as she recently told PEOPLE, she's tired of the moniker.

She now posting her carousel of images, shot outside, with the simple caption, "Stockholm syndrome." The photos, shot by Oliver Halfin, show Sorokin posing surrounded by flowers in a garden, in a car, enjoying the outdoors and showing off a bit of freedom amid her ongoing house arrest.

Sorokin has been banned from social media as part of the ongoing immigration case, which stemmed from her original grand larceny charges in 2019. On April 25, 2019, Sorokin was found guilty of eight charges, including attempted grand larceny in the first degree, grand larceny in the second degree, grand larceny in the third degree and theft of services.

That May, she was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in state prison, fined US$ 24,000, and ordered to pay restitution of about US$ 199,000.

She went to prison but was released early in 2021. However, Sorokin was then taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa in March that year.

On 5 October 2022, Sorokin was granted release from an ICE facility in Orange County, N.Y., but she then had pay US$ 10,000 bail, had to forfeit her social media and was placed on house arrest. She is currently serving out her house arrest in Upstate New York, living with famed fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone.
