The Business of Bargain

Business of Bargain
So how do you go into business and more importantly, what would be your specific business model? Where do you put up your business (location)?

The retailing business in the Philippines is basically still a 'mall' world, where typical air-conditioned malls lord it over and gobble up the competition. The mushrooming of several tiangge sites in the metropolis is a testament to its growing popularity among budget-conscious—even the upper-scale—Pinoys who want to go into the retail business an opportunity to put up their own, concentrating on the 'bargain' aspect.

Of course, putting up a business in today's world is no easy task. With the gamut of permits and documentary requirements, not to mention the bureaucratic red-tape that accompanies each business application, somehow makes potential business investors doubt if they can pull it off. Administrative and government-mandated expenses related to business applications nowadays tend to make a dent on already-meager financial resources of the would-be businessman.

The next concern is location. How do you choose your location? Does heavy foot or vehicular traffic, especially public utility vehicles, translate to higher sales and patronage for your business?

Does a good-looking, well-lighted edifice mean there are people who will flock to the place and eventually, mean louder rings for your cash register?

These are just some of the basic questions that need to be answered. With regard to the choice of business, it still remains on the business investor himself/herself, whether going into micro-retail or just plunge head-on into the mall aspect and see what's next for your investment. As for documentary requirements, it is part of the system, like it or not, that aspiring businessmen would have to deal with before they can put up their business.

Location? Well, it’s something that the entrepreneur can perhaps study, and study very well for sometimes, even after completing months of tedious feasibility and marketing studies, businesses still fail. Choosing a good location to put up your business is something that needs serious attention. In business planning, one of the most important factors a budding entrepreneur must consider is the location. With a modest capital, an aspiring Metro Manila businessman can have an auspicious career beginning in micro-retail, and the venue for his realized dream must be the most suitable location possible.
