When the Entrecard Sponsor Ads became online on 28 September 2009 many well-known bloggers slowly left the advertising social network. Some of the well-respected sites include Caledonian Comment, Business Sphere, The Windmill On The Hill and The Painted Veil.
Others paid the standard amount of US$50.00 to disable the ads in their EC widgets. This way, they will not be bothered into accepting new ads, but can focus on dropping cards.
The rest, like me, started on a "wait-and-see" attitude, but later realize that joining Entrecard has more plusses than minuses. Aside from using Entrecard to make a site popular, it allows bloggers to earn some points to advertise on other preferred sites.
Nevertheless, there might be some room for improvement. For instance, a system could be devise to make the distribution of paid and sponsored ads more equitable. For instance, I have several sites in the network and these blogs don't enjoy the same amount of traffic. Some average 20,000 page views per month, while a few can only muster 500 daily visitors. Here’s the problem: Both sides of the extreme spectrum will show 15 percent of the sponsors’ ads. For me, this is a little unfair because both high-traffic sites and the low-traffic blogs are getting the same service from Entrecard.
Another thing that could be thoroughly examined is the value of advertising. Comparing the blog promotion and branding brought about by Adgitize and Entrecard, it appears that the former is more cost-effective (cost per click, per thousand impressions or page views and in generating visitors). Maybe the latter can further decrease the cost to help some of us make our blog stand out a little and make our avatars more recognizable.
However, the two issues above are not really serious enough for me to disregard the benefits of Entrecard, but it’s something that we can ponder on during our lull moments. The management may do something about or not, it matters very little. I don’t have all the facts on this issue and could only be looking at it from a shallow perspective. There could be technical issues involved, which, I must admit, I am not capable of offering any solution.

I'm still not entirely happy with entrecard.I still may quite it.
