Tony Hawk Apologizes for HUVr Prank

Tony Hawk Hoverboard
Last week, our interest was prickled into doing more research than what we previously are willing to do just because of the possibility that our old pal from the 80's Doc (Christopher Lloyd)could be right.

Is he, though? I mean, ad campaign is certainly convincing, but real life hoverboards? It seems too good to be true, which more than likely means, it is not.

Even if the video, which was jam-packed with celebrity endorsers, including pro skater Tony Hawk himself who vouched for this flying contraption, is legit, the product is not.

Hawk has now issued a video apology for his role in the prank. You can watch Tony's apology in the video.

"I thought it would be obvious that it was fake ... to me, it was just a fun opportunity to ride in a DeLorean with Doc," Hawk says in the apology video. The video also shows real footage of the stunt harness in action.

Despite claims that the HUVr technology was real, it has since been revealed that Funny or Die was behind this viral prank video. Mashable reports that a costume designer who worked on the shoot posted the experience on her online resume, which has since been removed.
