"If you can't beat them, pound them." This appears to be the strategy of Disney and Marvel when they found out that there was a leak on the prior to the planned release of the "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" official trailer. The studios had planned on premiering the initial teaser on 28 Octover 2014 during an episode of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," but with the leak, they struck back.
The official full trailer was just released publicly (see it below) and it definitely packs a solid punch to the gut. It offered glimpses of new superheroes, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), and even provides a first look at Andy Serkis' mystery character.
But what took everything a notch higher is this line from Ultron: "I'm going to show you something beautiful ..."
The line builds expectation that there is something ominous and outrageous as Disney and Marvel prepare to try to follow up the phenomenon of the first movie. Joss Wheadon appeared to have poured every bit of that considerable brain of his into making this chapter of the giant ongoing Marvel movie universe into the most painful, the most thrilling, and the most personal one so far.
Some of the highlights that we should to create ripples across the vast Marvel universe include the battle between Iron Man's Hulk Buster armor and, of course, The Hulk; Captain America's broken shield, the manner by which Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch are being provoked and pushed to reach their maximum potential. Did we already mention the possibility of The Vision making an appearance as well?
The rest of the Avengers will be back, but the big takeaway is Ultron's killer closing line: "There are no strings on me."
Yes, we'll see you at the movies on 1 May 2015.
