Tom Brady's Sketched Face is Trending Online

Sketched Tom Brady
The face that launch a few hundred meme started in the courtroom or more specifically the federal courtroom sketch of Tom Brady.

The sketch of the "deflate-gate" hearing has inspired hilarious memes showing Brady's sketched face photoshopped into just about everything – from E.T. to the Mona Lisa (one example below). It was drawn by Jane Rosenberg, who has been a courtroom artist for over 35 years.

"This courtroom sketch of Tom Brady will haunt your dreams," Fusion declared.

"Tom Brady's face melted at the DeflateGate hearing, according to this courtroom sketch," SB Nation surmised.

"It looks like Brady's face was put in one of those machines that crushes cars," USA Today said.

These were among the headlines and observations that overshadowed the New England quarterback’s hearing in federal court on Wednesday, at least as far as the response on social media is concerned. Brady is appealing a four-game suspension for his role in the deflation of footballs used in the AFC championship game in January.

In 2011, The New York Times noted that Ms. Rosenberg’s likeness of Robert De Niro during a court appearance in Manhattan was “remarkably accurate.” She has been a sketch artist for 35 years, depicting a litany of public figures including Woody Allen, Martha Stewart, Bill Cosby and John Gotti.

In a telephone interview with the New York Times, Ms. Rosenberg said drawing celebrities is her most difficult task, as people already have an image of how the person is supposed to look. She was hired by several media clients to attend Brady’s hearing, and was “under a lot of pressure to work very quickly and do the best I can on the short deadline I’m on."

"I’m getting bad criticism that I made him look like Lurch," she said, referring to the Addams Family character. “And obviously I apologize to Tom Brady for not making him as good-looking as he is."

In response, Twitter users deployed their best photo-editing skills.
