Music lovers' next favorite song might come from a conversation with ChatGPT.
Spotify has teamed up with the popular OpenAI model, letting users discover music and podcasts without switching apps. Whether they’re chatting about weekend plans or brainstorming their next playlist theme, Spotify is now just a prompt away.
The service allows both Spotify Free and Premium users to bring music and podcast recommendations directly into their ChatGPT conversations.
Users can simply mention Spotify in their ChatGPT prompt and connect their account once. From there, they can ask ChatGPT for songs, albums, playlists, or podcasts tailored to their mood, favorite genres, artists, or specific topics.
Each recommendation appears directly within the chat, and tapping a selection instantly opens the Spotify app for seamless listening.
Once connected, Spotify can be used in a variety of contexts.
From checking the latest from a favorite K-pop star to creating a soundtrack for a weekend road trip, ChatGPT handles the context and delivers relevant recommendations.
Users can ask for playlists to match specific moods, like study focus, workout energy, or relaxing evening, and Spotify will surface the most fitting options.
"It’s early days, so while we might not be able to deliver on every request just yet, we’ll continue to build, refine, and improve the experience over the coming weeks and months," Spotify said.
The Spotify integration differs from other apps because it combines conversation context with personalized music discovery in real time.
Free users can browse pre-existing playlists like Discover Weekly and New Music Friday, while Premium users can generate fully tailored playlists. Users can even request podcasts by topic, host, or guest, making it possible to integrate entertainment seamlessly into a conversation.
OpenAI is also teaming up with other apps to expand ChatGPT’s capabilities. Future integrations are expected to include Instacart for groceries, Expedia and KAYAK for travel, Shopify for shopping, and OpenTable for dining.
These partnerships aim to turn ChatGPT into a multi-functional platform where users can shop, plan, book, and enjoy entertainment, all without leaving the chat. As the ecosystem grows, ChatGPT is positioned to become a central hub for both daily tasks and leisure.
The app is available in English across 145 countries for all logged-in ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Pro accounts, on both web and mobile (iOS and Android).
The rollout began last 6 October 2025. For listeners, it’s a new way to explore music and podcasts.
For artists and podcasters, it opens another avenue for discovery in a conversational, AI-driven space. Users can now discover content dynamically while chatting, creating an experience that is interactive, context-aware, and tailored to their preferences.
