Greta Thunberg Mistakenly Used A Photo Of An Israeli Prisoner

Wrong Photo
Activist Greta Thunberg made a blunder and pretended that it did not happen. Instead, she conveniently deleted an Instagram propaganda post protesting the "cruelty and dehumanization" dealt to Palestinian prisoners using an image of an Israeli hostage.

The post, shared last 6 October by the Swedish activist and other campaigners, claimed to highlight "the suffering of Palestinian prisoners." But one of the photos was a still of 24-year-old Israeli hostage Evyatar David pulled from footage released by Hamas in August that showed the prisoner, gaunt and shirtless, digging his own grave.

"You should research before you post things you don’t understand about. In the 6th slide you put a photo of an Israeli Hostage who Hamas starved on purpose. This is Evyatar David," wrote his sister, Yeela David, in a furious comment noted by the New York Post.

"Every minute you are not deleting the post, you are becoming a bigger joke," she added.

Several other pro-Israeli accounts also piled on, including Israeli government accounts, once the mix-up was made known.

Thunberg’s post was later edited to remove the image, but she has not addressed the mix-up publicly.

The incident unfolded days after Thunberg and other activists were detained by Israeli authorities while attempting to sail a "Freedom Flotilla" toward Gaza. At a press conference following her release, Thunberg alleged detainees were "subjected to torture" in Israeli custody, but declined to share details.

The activist group was deported, and Israel’s Foreign Ministry denied any mistreatment.
